From Dreaming to Designing: The Story Behind ADERO Travel

How a lifelong love of travel, two homes and countless self-made journeys became the start of something new.

September 2026

My name is Adela, and I was born in Romania, a country of mountains, painted monasteries and villages where time seems to move a little slower. Growing up there, I learned that the world is full of stories waiting to be discovered, and that the best ones are often found off the beaten path. Perhaps that’s where my curiosity began: the quiet wish to see what lies beyond the next hill, the next border, the next horizon.

More than twenty years ago, I made the Netherlands my home. Building a new life in another country teaches you a lot. You learn to look at the world with open eyes, to appreciate different cultures and to feel at home in more than one place. Romania will always be in my heart, but the Netherlands gave me something just as valuable: a window to the world, and the freedom to explore it.

And explore it I did. Over the years, travel became one of the great passions of my life. From the vast landscapes of Australia to the green hills of New Zealand, from the temples of Kyoto to the night markets of Taipei, from the skyline of Hong Kong to the street food of Penang, every journey added something new to who I am. But what I enjoyed almost as much as the travelling itself was the planning.

I have always loved designing a journey from scratch. Finding the perfect route, choosing that one special hotel with a view, discovering the small restaurant only the locals know, figuring out how to see a famous place before the crowds arrive. I never booked standard packages. I created every circuit myself, carefully, piece by piece, until it felt exactly right.

Slowly, something unexpected happened. Friends started asking me to help plan their holidays. Then family. Then friends of friends. “Could you design something for us too?” I loved every moment of it: listening to what they dreamed of, understanding what made them happy, and turning that into a journey that felt like it was made just for them. Because it was. And every time they came home with stories, photos and that special glow in their eyes, I felt a quiet joy that told me this was more than a hobby.

At the same time, I noticed something else. So many people dream of travelling to faraway places, but end up booking a standard package that doesn’t really fit them. The same route, the same hotels, the same schedule as everyone else. Too fast in one place, too long in another, and missing the moments that make a journey truly personal. I knew it could be different. I knew it should be different.

That is why I started ADERO Travel.

At ADERO, there are no fixed packages. Every journey I create is fully tailor-made, designed around you: your wishes, your pace, your interests and your way of travelling. Whether you dream of city lights or quiet nature, culture or culinary adventures, a once-in-a-lifetime trip or a short escape, I listen carefully and design a route that is completely yours.

And there is one promise that is very important to me: I only design journeys to places I have travelled myself. I don’t sell destinations from brochures. I share places I have walked through, tasted, experienced and fallen in love with. That means I can tell you which neighbourhood feels most alive in the evening, which viewpoint is worth waking up early for, and which little detail will turn a good trip into an unforgettable one.

For me, quality and personal attention are not extras; they are the heart of everything I do. From the very first conversation to the moment you return home, you’ll have one person who knows your journey inside out and genuinely cares about making it perfect.

Travel has given me so much: new perspectives, beautiful memories and a deep respect for the many ways people live around the world. With ADERO Travel, I want to give a little of that back, by helping you discover the world the way I love to discover it: personally, thoughtfully and with all my heart.
